Initial plans for establishing this new organisation began in 1939 under the auspices of the United States Department of State.

Franklin D. Roosevelt was the first person who is believed to have coined the term United Nations or the United Nations as a term to describe the allied countries.
The term was first formalised and used on January 1, 1942, when 26 governments pledged to continue their efforts to sign the Atlantic Charter.

- World peace must be created so every nation can live free from fear and poverty.
As a follow-up to the Atlantic Charter, the United Nations Conference on International Organizations was held on 25 April 1945 in San Francisco.
The conference was attended by 50 state governments and non-governmental organisations.
After a long process, finally, on October 24, 1945, the United Nations was officially established with the ratification of the Charter by the 5 permanent members of the Security Council, namely France, the Soviet Union, the Republic of China, the United Kingdom, the United States and the majority of the other 36 member states.
The first UN General Assembly was held in 1946 at Westminster Central Hall, London, attended by 51 representatives and the Security Council.
Initially, from 1946 to 1952, the PBB was housed in a building belonging to the Sperry Gyroscope Corporation in Lake Success, New York.
Since its founding, there has been much controversy and criticism against the United Nations.
In the United States, for example, the United Nations rival, the John Birch Society, began a campaign in 1959 claiming that the United Nations’ purpose was to establish a “One World Government.”

The United Nations has 6 official languages: Arabic, English, Chinese, Russian, Spanish and Russian.
These languages are commonly used in intergovernmental meetings and document creation.
While the Security Council uses two working languages, namely English and French, while the General Assembly uses 3 working languages, namely Spanish, English and French.
The United Nations now consists of 5 significant organisations: the General Assembly, Security Council, Economic and Social Council, Secretariat and the International Court of Justice.
